Singapore, Asia - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - May 9, 2008 - Internet reliability solutions provider, Hyperspin Internet Services, has upgraded the application programming interface (API) for its reseller platform to support external payment systems.

Designed to enable resellers to accept online payments through virtually any payment gateway or system. In the past, Hyperspin’s reseller platform required payments to be made through PayPal or 2Checkout.com. However, as the company’s resellers have become increasingly international, the need has developed for greater flexibility in payment processors.

ChoonKeng Chua, Managing Director, Hyperspin noted, ”By supporting external payment systems, our resellers are able to resell our services more easily to their target clients. Resellers can link their reseller website with any external payment system they wish to use, just by implementing a simple API. This new improvement bolsters the ability of our resellers to make sales quickly and efficiently.”

Hyperspin has created a library of literature outlining the parameters of its API. Resellers can access this through the company’s website. There are no additional fees for using the API. Hyperspin allows website owners and server administrators to maximize uptime by constantly monitoring the status of web services. The platform can monitor virtually any service, including HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SSH, SMTP, DNS, POP3, IMAP, MySQL, and any arbitrary services running on TCP/IP. If the system detects downtime, Hyperspin sends a notification through email or cell phone text message (SMS).

Hyperspin Internet Services is a registered online reliability solutions provider based in Singapore. Launched in 2002, the company’s flagship website and server monitoring service provides SMS and email updates of website downtime, allowing server administrators and webmasters to rectify reliability problems and maximize sales and ROI. Hyperspin currently monitors the reliability of more than 20,000 websites and servers.

Dublin, Ireland - (The Hosting News) - May 9, 2008 - Developer of near-continuous data protection products for Linux and Windows, R1Soft, has welcomed enterprise web hosting solutions company, Aventure Host, to its hosting partner program, R1HPP.

Aventure Host offers R1Soft’s data protection technology at no additional charge on most of its shared, reseller and dedicated hosting plans. With CDP, Aventure Host is able to minimize the period between backup restore points, thereby reducing potential data loss in the event of a disaster. Six daily backups on hosted Exchange, shared and reseller packages are being offered.

Richard Kennedy, Managing Director of Aventure Host noted, ”By offering CDP as a value-add on most of our packages, we are bringing on new standards on how we operate. This will allow us to also provide our clients with peace of mind that their data is safe, and can be easily recovered in the event of a disaster.”

For dedicated servers, it offers 12 daily backups. Customers on Virtual Private Server (VPS) plans may purchase data protection from 1 pound ($2 US) which provides 1 daily backup.

As a member of R1HPP, Aventure Host gains access to valuable marketing materials, sales tools, and volume licensing discounts on software. R1Soft also provides its partners with priority technical support and advanced access to software updates.

David Wartell, Vice President of R1Soft, a division of BBS Technologies remarked, ”By joining forces with R1Soft and becoming a R1HPP partner, we will be able to more closely work with Aventure Host to help them maximize return on investment and successfully achieve their goal of the new hosting standardization.”

Aventure Host offers shared hosting packages starting from 32 pounds ($63 US) yearly. Dedicated servers start at 150 pounds ($295 US) monthly and Virtual Private Servers start at 5 pounds ($10 US) per month. All are hosted in the company’s Ireland datacenter.

Recently, R1 Soft released a new version of its CDP Server product that introduces a quick and easy Windows Server restore using Linux Live CDs. R1Soft’s new Bare-Metal Restore process does not require Windows Pre-Execution or Remote Installation Services and is a first of its kind. R1Soft provides its customers a bootable Linux Live CD ISO image compatible with most popular Windows Server storage and network devices. Administrators can initiate a restore by simply inserting the CD, powering on, and then selecting a point-in-time virtual full backup to restore from in the R1Soft CDP Server web interface.

Previously, before any data could be restored, Windows server administrators had to first re-install the Windows operating system and any backup software. Recent Bare-Metal Restore alternatives, such as products released by vendors like Symantec, IBM, and EMC, still require the customer to use either the Windows Pre-Execution Environment (Windows PE) or Windows Remote Installation Services (RIS) during restores. Windows RIS and PE can be complicated processes and these systems add hours of wasted time during a critical server restore.

R1Soft also supplies media and configurations for DHCP and TFTP servers to allow Windows Server restore over the PXE network boot protocol supported by all modern network interface cards. R1Soft has previously been offering Bare-Metal Restore in its CDP for Linux product.

A subsidiary of Aventure Media, Aventure Host is one of Ireland’s fastest growing internet solution providers, providing internet and media solutions to SME and corporate customers. To date, this equates to over 95,000 users in 132 countries. Aventure Media’s award winning internet solutions are based on a rock-solid datacenter infrastructure featuring n+1 redundancy and multi-homed bandwidth providers direct from Dublin, matched with an in-house state of the art Network Operations Centre in Belfast.

Founded in 2003, R1Soft is a provider of disk-based backup solutions. The company’s customer list includes some of the world’s largest hosting providers. R1soft products provide Continuous Data Protection (CDP) for over 85,000 mission-critical Linux and Windows servers worldwide. In November, 2007 R1Soft was acquired by BBS Technologies, Inc.

Denver, Colorado - (The Hosting News) - May 1, 2008 - The Green Grid organization, dedicated to accelerating the growth of energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems, has issued a Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA).

The Green Grid’s agreement with the EPA will first promote energy efficiency in EPA computer facilities and then broadly share results in order to impact change within both other governmental agencies and the private sector. The alliance with SNIA, formally announced by SNIA earlier this month, is designed to further networked storage best practices for energy efficiency.

The Green Grid’s Memorandums of Understanding with the EPA and SNIA highlight the organization’s continuing efforts and progress in working with government agencies and key industry players to define and promote the adoption of standards, processes, measurements and technologies for energy efficiency in the data center.

Roger Tipley, Director of The Green Grid noted, ”The goal of the agreement between the EPA and The Green Grid is to build further collaboration between the private and public sectors, and to set an example by improving energy efficiency in federal government computer facilities. The Green Grid will play a key role in this project by providing a team of technical experts who will perform the assessment and direct strategies and techniques for maximizing energy efficiency.”

The Green Grid’s collaboration with the EPA will accelerate the adoption of best practices for energy efficiency in existing computer/server rooms throughout the EPA. As an initial step The Green Grid and the EPA will identify an existing small EPA computer/server room as a target for an energy efficiency showcase, and execute a public project demonstrating the feasibility, approach and benefits of optimization. The results, best practices and real-world takeaways from this project will be shared with other governmental agencies, industry stakeholders and the private sector.

The Green Grid and the EPA formalized their MOU in a signing ceremony held today in Washington, D.C., highlighted by remarks from EPA Administrator Stephen L. Johnson and John Tuccillo, director of The Green Grid.

Earlier this month, SNIA announced a formal alliance with The Green Grid. The Green Grid will work with SNIA and its Green Storage Initiative to develop and promote standards, measurement methods, processes and technologies to improve data center energy efficiencies. SNIA will use its expertise in networked storage and membership (over 400 member companies and 7,000 individual members) to work with The Green Grid on best storage practices for achieving more efficient storage infrastructures, including more efficient storage networking technologies.

Vincent Franceschini, Chair of the SNIA remarked, ”Addressing the challenges associated with energy efficiency and green computing will require collaboration across all IT areas, including the storage industry. The Green Grid is a key industry organization for improving energy efficiency within data centers and business computing ecosystems. Through its Green Storage Initiative — dedicated to applying the technical and educational expertise of the storage industry to develop and find more energy efficient solutions in the data center — SNIA will work with The Green Grid to develop best practices and education for the industry.”

Mark Monroe, Director of The Green Grid added, ”Within the IT industry, there are a number of professionals who are responsible for data center functionality — from CIOs and IT managers, to heating and cooling experts. It is imperative that we look at the energy efficiency issue from a single, united point of view. Together we can leverage each other’s core expertise and areas of focus to deliver a holistic and complete approach for an energy-efficient data center.”

The Green Grid is a global consortium of companies dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems. The Green Grid does not endorse any vendor-specific products or solutions, and will seek to provide industry-wide recommendations on best practices, metrics and technologies that will improve overall data center energy efficiencies. Membership is open to companies interested in data center operational efficiency at the Contributor or General Member level. General Members attend and participate in General Meetings of The Green Grid, review proposals for specifications and have access to specifications for test suites and design guidelines and IP licensing. Additional benefits for Contributor Members include participation and voting rights in Committees and Work Groups.

Glasgow, United Kingdom - (The Hosting News) - May 1, 2008 - Web hosting and managed services company, iomart, has been selected by the Censorit Internet gaming safety service, to handle the company’s managed hosting.

Censorit provides a safe surfing experience for children using WiFi enabled gaming consoles such as Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, Sony PSP and portable media players such as the Apple iPod Touch.

Using the web based portal, parents can monitor their child’s internet usage, action unblockme requests from their child - where the child feels they should have access to a website that has been blocked - and manage their personalised blacklists and whitelists.

Dan Makin, the Founder of Censorit noted, ”The great thing about the system is that there is no requirement to download huge software files or install complicated programmes. Internet access is simply channelled through the Censorit system and the child doesn’t notice any difference until they try to access something inappropriate.”

Prior to Censorit’s launch, Dan selected iomart as his IT partner to provide the entire end to end managed hosting service for the product.

Mr. Makin remarked, ”For me iomart immediately stood out from other providers because quite simply they were there when I needed them. They’ve been very, very helpful from day one. The backbone of our company basically relies on iomart - if the servers go down the entire solution is offline and that simply cannot happen.”

As a result, not only does Censorit rely on iomart’s ability to provide a seamless service, but so do its customers. Any glitch in service which resulted in a failure of the filters could lead to some very unhappy customers.

Mr. Makin added, ”Clearly this was a serious question for me in the beginning, but iomart’s data centres are fantastically well-equipped and there are so many layers of contingency built into their systems that any concerns I had were very quickly allayed.”

Sarah Haran, Managing Director, iomart, commented, ”We are delighted to have been chosen by Censorit as their hosting partner for this innovative and much needed child safety solution. We have over 10 years experience in delivering large scale ‘always on’ type services so we understand just how critical zero downtime is to a product such as Censorit’s, and are pleased that we have been given the opportunity to demonstrate this. ”

Mr. Makin concluded, ”I’ve always felt that iomart has taken a real interest in the business, and believe me - as someone who has significant experience in the data centre industry, that’s a rare thing indeed.”

This customer acquisition comes on the heels of iomart being selected by an undisclosed major telecom operator, to provide managed data center facilities, in a 5 year contract. The contract is worth a minimum of 6.75m pounds, excluding the cost of power. Further revenues may be generated from the provision of additional managed services.

iomart entered the data center market in March 2007, with the purchase of 4 non operational data centres in London, Glasgow, Leicester and Nottingham. Following a refurbishment program, the company can now offer over 3,500m2 of high specification, secure and fully redundant data centre space. iomart is of the belief that it now holds a unique position in the managed services and hosting market, it that it can genuinely offer the ‘one source’ or ‘end to end’ approach. By combining a decade’s experience in managing large scale mission critical hosting infrastructures with the operation of its own data centre network, it can guarantee its clients total accountability.

Founded in 1998, iomart provides services from virtualization, to colocation, and full server room outsourcing, along with a full range of managed hosting services. Each service is tailored to suit client’s exact requirements. iomart is recognized as one of Europe’s largest and most established data center facilities, hosting and managed services provider.

Houston, Texas - (The Hosting News) - April 25, 2008 - Developer of near-continuous data protection products for Linux and Windows, R1Soft, has released a new version of its CDP Server product that introduces a quick and easy Windows Server restore, using Linux Live CDs.

David Wartell, Vice President of R1Soft, a subsidiary of BBS Technologies noted, ”Bare-Metal Restore has been a real thorn in the side of software makers when it comes to Windows servers. It has proven difficult to boot Windows without using a hard disk for restore. Windows PE, for example, requires a separate Windows license for every instance that is booted and is very complicated and time consuming just to get it to work. The nearest alternative is RIS, and that can take days to get working, especially in a large data center. With our new release of CDP for Windows, we have finally solved the problem. Bare-Metal Restores on Windows servers from disk backups can now be completed by simply inserting a CD in the tray.”

Recently, R1 Soft showcased its products and True Granular Restore technology at this year’s MySQL Conference and Expo, held April 14-17 in Santa Clara, California. At the largest gathering of MySQL developers, users, and database administrators. This year’s show provides an opportunity for R1Soft to educate the MySQL community about its Continuous Data Protection software for MySQL database servers. R1Soft’s database backup technology, True Granular Restore, is the first of its kind for MySQL, allowing developers and administrators the ability to restore individual tables to original or alternate locations using an easy-to-use web interface.

R1Soft’s MySQL data protection product is the only product capable of MySQL hot backups for both MyISAM and InnoDB table types. The technology provides a complete server backup and allows databases to be backed up as often as every 15 minutes, without interrupting or slowing down a busy production database in any way.

The 2008 MySQL Conference and Expo brought over 1,600 open source and database enthusiasts together to harness the power of MySQL and celebrate the huge MySQL ecosystem. Peers and experts from a wide variety of companies and countries will gather at the MySQL Conference and Expo, to discuss and learn from some of the leading visionaries in the open source world.

San Francisco, California - (The Hosting News) - April 25, 2008 - Owner and manager of corporate datacenters and Internet gateways, Digital Realty Trust, Inc., has issued a new research study indicating that green movement will grow in importance for datacentre providers.

  The
Digital Realty Trust survey also finds that vendors need to articulate green datacenter strategies in the next 24 months. ”How Green is Green?” focused on determining the depth of the Green movement in the European datacentre market. The release of this data follows the publication of a parallel study of the North American datacentre market. This European study is based on a recent poll of senior decision makers who are leaders in datacentres or influence significant decisions related to datacentre operations at large European companies.

The surveyed companies come from a wide range of industries, a quarter of which are from financial related services. Key findings from the research study and additional data points are provided below: — 60 per cent of respondents have a declared green strategy. — Firms with green strategy are largely holistic in nature and think their strategy must include both the facility as well as the equipment operating within it. — Datacentre carbon footprints are a key area of concern: over 60 per cent of respondents include the purchase of carbon credits in their overall green strategy. — Less than 50 per cent of respondents require vendors to have a green strategy. — Less than 35 per cent of survey participants know of a datacentre partner with a declared green strategy. The lack of clear vendor strategies leads to leniency. — The need for vendors to articulate a green strategy will only continue to grow in the next 13 to 24 months: over 60 per cent or respondents indicate that this need will continue to increase within the next two years.

Jim Smith, Vice President of Engineering at Digital Realty Trust noted, ”At the same time that we conducted this survey of European companies, we did a study of green datacentre trends in North America. There are some interesting findings that I believe have relevance to the European market. The North American survey indicates that forward momentum of green datacentre initiatives has stalled or even lost ground. The primary culprit appears to be the lack of clear industry standards for green datacentres. European companies expressed similar concern about the lack of clear, practical industry standards, and that could be a harbinger of a similar green ’slowdown’ in Europe. Companies are looking to the datacentre industry for leadership and clarity on how to define, design and operate a green datacentre. The industry must make this a key focus this year.”

A number of additional findings from the research study are as follows: — Respondents feel that there are many potential standards bodies to choose from but there is still no clear leader. The key factor for this is that the definition of Green is not universally adopted. — No clear definition of ‘Green’ exists and multiple components are currently viewed as green. At the moment survey participants feel that coalescence is required around a defined set of principles. Almost 70 per cent see efficient power usage as the ‘greenest’ component. — Being ”Green” will become an essential selection criteria for vendors within the next 24 months: almost 70 per cent of respondents indicated that this will be an important selection criteria in the next 24 months. — Green Strategy is expected to grow as a requirement for vendors in the next 12 to 24 months, forcing datacentre firms to articulate and clarify their green strategies.

Mr. Smith continued, ”Digital Realty Trust takes great pride in being an industry leader in green datacentre design and operations. We are also committed to supporting industry-wide initiatives to increase datacentre efficiency. One of the key ways we are doing this is by sharing energy efficiency data. We are the first company in the datacentre industry to do so, in response to customers and other end-user organizations who are seeking data and benchmarks that educate them about the energy efficiency of competing facilities and about how their datacentre can support their corporate green strategy.”

Mr. Smith added, ”We are also supporting industry-wide green datacentre initiatives by continuing to be an active member of The Green Grid, which is doing excellent work establishing standards and best practices for datacentre energy efficiency. We will continue to be a leader in applying LEED and BREEAM specifications to our building design and operations. Although these specifications are not designed specifically for datacentres, they have tremendous value for institutional building owners like Digital Realty Trust. These specifications provide a holistic view of how buildings impact our environment and a proven methodology for minimizing that impact.”

Digital Realty Trust will also hosted a webinar about the results of the green datacentre trend studies. The Webinar was conducted by Bernard Geohegan, Vice President, Europe, who provided additional data and analysis of the trends.

The Methodology Metrics reported in this study are based on web-based surveys of IT decision makers at large corporations in five European countries: the U.K., Germany, France, the Netherlands and Ireland. Almost 100 per cent of all surveyed companies have annual revenues greater than 1 billion Euros. 69 per cent of them have 5000 or more employees worldwide and 52 per cent over 7500. All surveyed organisations are ”leaders” in setting industry direction based on expense related to datacentre design and construction. Approximately 60 per cent of the respondents were Managing Directors and almost 13 per cent are ”C” level executives. The survey was conducted in March 2008.

Digital Realty Trust, Inc. owns, acquires, redevelops, develops and manages technology-related real estate. The Company is focused on providing Turn-Key Datacentre and Powered Base Building datacentre solutions for domestic and international tenants across a variety of industry verticals ranging from information technology and internet enterprises, to manufacturing and financial services. Digital Realty Trust’s 71 properties, excluding one property held as an investment in an unconsolidated joint venture, contain applications and operations critical to the day-to-day operations of technology industry tenants and corporate enterprise datacentre tenants. Comprising approximately 1.2 million rentable square metres (12.6 million square feet) as of April 1, 2008, including 186,000 square metres (2 million square feet) of space held for redevelopment, Digital Realty Trust’s portfolio is located in 26 markets throughout Europe and North America.

Lynchburg, Virginia - (The Hosting News) - April 16, 2008 - Residential and business Internet access, web hosting products and services firm, Sitestar Corporation, has acquired the Internet access customer base and assets of Tennessee’s N2 The Net firm.

The acquisition closely follows the Company’s recent purchase of Comcation and is the second transaction in what Sitestar expects to be a year of increased deal flow and growth in new, opportunistic market segments.

Frank R. Erhartic, Jr., CEO for Sitestar noted, ”N2 The Net’s narrowband and broadband customer base fits squarely into Sitestar’s acquisition sweet-spot where our economies of scale and value-added service offerings enable us to generate stronger margins and retain customers longer than smaller ISPs can. We are encouraged by our progress so far in 2008 and anticipate closing more opportunities by leveraging our increased cash flow to capitalize upon the current economic climate.”

N2 The Net customers can look forward to an easy transition, access to additional services such as Surfboost Web Accelerator as well as other benefits including advanced spam filtering, extremely reliable network uptime and extended support hours, along with Sitestar’s friendly, personal support.

Mr. Erhartic added, ”We welcome the former N2 The Net customers to Sitestar and pledge to deliver outstanding service and support.”

Sitestar is an Internet and computer solutions provider that offers narrow-band (dial-up) services and broadband Internet access services (ISDN, DSL, satellite, cable and wireless), web hosting and design, and other value-added services including web acceleration, spam and virus filtering as well as spyware protection. Headquartered in Lynchburg, Virginia, Sitestar maintains multiple sites of operation and provides services to customers throughout the U.S. and Canada, with concentrations of customers in the Mid-Atlantic and Rocky Mountain regions in the U.S. and in Ontario, Canada.

Duluth, Georgia - (The Hosting News) - April 8, 2008 - Network satellite and wireless communications provider, DataPath, has captured $11.5 million to provide field services for a critical network of DataPath Deployable Ku Band Earth Terminals in the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility.

The DKET systems are built and installed by DataPath and used by the U.S. military as critical satellite communications hubs that deliver high-bandwidth capabilities on the battlefield.
Program Manager WIN-T’s Commercial SATCOM Terminal Program at the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command in Fort Monmouth, N.J. made the $11.5 million in awards through the Worldwide Satellite Systems contract. The awards are options on a previously announced contract that has a potential value of more than $50 million with all options exercised over multiple years. Under the latest agreements, more than 80 DataPath field service representatives will provide operations and maintenance services on more than 30 DKET systems during the next year.

Steve Lindeman, Vice President and General Manager of DataPath’s Integrated Systems and Services division noted, ”DataPath’s technical experts have been out in the field supporting the DKET program since it was established, and they continue today to work with great pride and dedication. Their efforts and expertise are one of our company’s core competencies, and their focus on the DKET program remains a top priority.”

DataPath has more than 170 personnel supporting the U.S. military in 60 locations and nine countries. In addition to the DKET network, they specialize in designing, installing and managing other critical communications networks for programs such as the U.S. Army’s Joint Network Node/WIN-T program and the U.S. Marine Corps’ Support Wide Area Network program.

Founded in 1996, DataPath provides satellite-based network solutions that are designed to solve customers’ toughest communications challenges.

Houston, Texas - (The Hosting News) - April 8, 2008 - Web hosting solutions firm, JaguarPC, has debuted a new promotion, to provide clients with continuous free upgrades as needed, when they reach 80% capacity.

The ”Endless Disk Space” program, is designed to give Shared hosting clients begin with 50 GB of disk space and semi-dedicated hosting clients start with 100 GB. As soon as 80% capacity is reached, customers can instantly add more with one click from the control panel. When their new capacity approaches 80%, once again they can increase their disk space.

Greg Landis, President of JaguarPC noted, ”The industry has gotten a bit crazy recently with ridiculous numbers being thrown around and hosts knowing full well they wouldn’t be able to handle the load if all their customers took them up on the offer. We stepped back and asked ourselves what the right thing to do for our customers is. Why don’t we give them peace of mind without making these over the top promises? In essence, Endless Disk Space simply means you will have capacity that always grows with your needs.”

In contrast to misleading industry promotions with unlimited or grossly inflated resources with their hosting packages and bury the conditions for account termination in small-print terms of service, the JaguarPC promotion is straightforward and meant to bring transparency to the battle of disk space.

JaguarPC’s new web site includes a community forum, updated web hosting and company blog, user-friendly control panel and the nixcore client management software. In addition, JaguarPC has made a number of changes: -Semi-dedicated accounts now have a failover hosting option to provide greater redundancy and peace of mind -New dedicated server plans have been rolled out -All reseller plans have had their disk space and bandwidth doubled while keeping the same prices, retroactive for all existing clients

JaguarPC, based in Houston Texas and owned by Jaguar Technologies LLC Hosting, provides Internet hosting solutions to small and medium-sized businesses, government agencies, prominent individuals and non-profit organizations worldwide. JaguarPC’s core portfolio comprises information technology and business hosting services, as well as programming services. JaguarPC’s complementary subsidiary businesses is Devpond software, a web software company.
