Reading, United Kingdom - (The Hosting News) - June 12, 2008 - Managed dedicated hosting provider, DediPower, has joined integrated design and communications agency, Oculus, to provide a major government education initiative website.

DediPower is providing all the managed hosting requirements for newsecondarycurriculum.org. In order to support the introduction and rollout of a new secondary school curriculum the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) funded the CfBT Education Trust to produce and manage an interactive support website. This will enable thousands of teachers to register, access and download information on the new curriculum that is being rolled out, including video case study downloads of schools that are already implementing the new curriculum. The site also allows teachers to plan their own curriculum requirements online via a number of interactive tools whilst also delivering a library of material to support best practice and links to valuable information and source materials.

Martin Bulmer, Head of Digital Media, Oculus noted, ”This was a challenging project involving multiple stakeholders, complex requirements and a substantial amount of content. We needed to have the very best suppliers working with us to ensure its success. In terms of our managed hosting requirements we needed a partner who could provide scalability, the ability to handle rapid and sharp increases in site traffic, ‘always on’ dependability, and the very highest levels of security. DediPower delivered on all of these requirements.”
CfBT worked closely with a large number of teaching associations to provide content and advice. The site, launched in March 2008, is already extensively used, having achieved over 6,000 teacher registrations.

Mr. Bulmer added, ”We selected DediPower because it is focused on data centre efficiencies, deliver service excellence and have the depth of technical skills and knowledge that we require. This, coupled with their outstanding track record of working on mission critical online initiatives, made them the natural choice for Oculus to provide all of our managed hosting requirements.”
DediPower’s Managed Hosting provides enterprises with business server solutions delivering custom built high-specification dedicated servers. This is underpinned by a world-class hosting infrastructure that has been designed to ensure the highest levels of network uptime, availability, flexibility and security. Focused on delivering support with passion, DediPower offers one of the best service level agreements in the industry today and is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and RedHat Ready Hosting Partner.

Craig Martin, CEO, DediPower commented, ”It is exciting to be a critical provider in a major government education initiative with Oculus and being selected to deliver the managed hosting requirements for this value added support service for teaching professionals. Hosting Provider, Open-Xchange, Integrates Parallels Automation

Renton, Washington - (The Hosting News) - May 23, 2008 - Server virtualization firm, Parallels, will power an Open-Xchange automation solution, through an integrated application. The hosting and service providers will offer open-source based email and collaboration services.

Serguei Beloussov, CEO of Parallels noted, ”Our work with Open-Xchange advances Parallels’ Open Platform initiative to provide customers with a common platform to manage and automate service delivery. The integrated solutions enable service providers to expand their product offerings and include enterprise-proven collaboration technology for the Linux platform, and deliver them to end-users via a profitable, easily accessible SaaS model.”

Parallels and Open-Xchange are creating connectors for Open-Xchange Hosting Edition into Parallels Plesk Control Panel and Parallels Business Automation, enabling hosting and service providers to deploy and run Open-Xchange seamlessly in combination with Parallels’ automation tools via a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model.

Rafael Laguna, CEO of Open-Xchange remarked, ”This partnership extends the reach of our SaaS Messaging and Groupware offering to all hosting and service providers in the world. They can now offer hosted groupware and collaboration with zero upfront investment for hardware, software and administration for their customers, thus significantly reducing overall cost of ownership. Customers can get one-stop collaboration solutions including email hosting, disk space, backup, recovery, spam and anti-virus services at an unmatched price point.”

Using Parallels Plesk Control Panel and Parallels Business Automation, service providers will be able to manage and deliver Open-Xchange Smart Collaboration through a fully-automated platform. Service providers get the flexibility to bundle and charge separately for individual resources, such as disk space, mailbox storage limits, or shared folders. Additionally, customers will be able to order, maintain, and pay for services online so that the decision to buy or upgrade results in immediate service delivery.

Dan Golding, Vice President and Research Director at Tier 1 Research commented, ”There is significant and growing enterprise demand for hosted messaging and collaboration. At a time when some of the conventional hosted messaging choices are less appealing to hosting providers, adding new alternatives to the mix is a significant positive to the hosting industry and to enterprise customers.”

Oliver Mauss, CEO at 1 and 1 Internet Inc. and partner of Open-Xchange and Parallels added, ”This partnership enriches hosters’ business options dramatically — and changes the way small and midsized companies use software. Parallel’s management tools for Open-Xchange allow us and our resellers to deliver virtually any automated service in real-time. Additionally, this solution provides customers with the ability to independently configure and manage these automated services 24×7.”

Open-Xchange is now certified with the Application Packaging Standard (APS) as well. The APS standard is a packaging format that makes it easier for service providers to deliver hosted applications developed by independent software vendors (ISVs). APS-certified applications can be easily ”plugged into” hosting platforms that conform to the standard.

The Parallels Open Platform enables SaaS with Parallels virtualization and automation technology through integration with a wide range of third-party applications and systems. The APS standard is a key element of the Parallels Open Platform and is used by ISVs and service providers to seamlessly integrate applications to offer to the more than 10 million businesses and individuals that use Parallels products. ISVs and service providers interested in the APS Certification Program can register at www.apsstandard.com/certification.

Open-Xchange offers email, calendar, contacts, tasks and document sharing providing companies with all the tools needed to facilitate communication and efficient teamwork. Users improve their communication and teamwork with simple, intuitive tools and intelligent features, such as smart links between calendar appointments, task lists, contacts, documents, bookmarks and knowledge articles. Users get get access to their data using the AJAX-based Open-Xchange web-client or Microsoft Outlook as client software.

According to the company, the Open-Xchange Hosting Edition is the only groupware solution designed specifically to meet the needs of hosting providers. It has been architected to integrate into a hosting provider’s existing infrastructure such as authentication, provisioning, billing, and email storage rather than require that these systems be replaced. Open-Xchange Hosting Edition is built on enterprise proven open source technologies, such as Apache and MySQL, and is able to scale up to millions of users.

Open-Xchange Hosting Edition offers multi-tenant and multi-domain capabilities, enabling webhosters to serve hundreds of thousand clients in a virtual server environment. This ensures a maximum level of service and customer satisfaction, while making best use of existing hardware resources. Open-Xchange Hosting Edition offers the necessary services and interfaces to integrate into automated administration, deployment and monitoring tools, ensuring 24/7 uptime 365 days a year.

Open-Xchange Inc. created scalable and integrated open source email and collaboration solutions for enterprises, academic institutions, and government authorities. Open-Xchange Hosting Edition enables web-hosting companies to provide an easy-to-use and feature-rich application delivered as Software as a Service (SaaS). Filed under: Internet News

Singapore, Asia - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - May 9, 2008 - Internet reliability solutions provider, Hyperspin Internet Services, has upgraded the application programming interface (API) for its reseller platform to support external payment systems.

Designed to enable resellers to accept online payments through virtually any payment gateway or system. In the past, Hyperspin’s reseller platform required payments to be made through PayPal or 2Checkout.com. However, as the company’s resellers have become increasingly international, the need has developed for greater flexibility in payment processors.

ChoonKeng Chua, Managing Director, Hyperspin noted, ”By supporting external payment systems, our resellers are able to resell our services more easily to their target clients. Web Hosting Partner Status, Attained by Aventure Host, with R1Soft

Dublin, Ireland - (The Hosting News) - May 9, 2008 - Developer of near-continuous data protection products for Linux and Windows, R1Soft, has welcomed enterprise web hosting solutions company, Aventure Host, to its hosting partner program, R1HPP.

Aventure Host offers R1Soft’s data protection technology at no additional charge on most of its shared, reseller and dedicated hosting plans. With CDP, Aventure Host is able to minimize the period between backup restore points, thereby reducing potential data loss in the event of a disaster. Six daily backups on hosted Exchange, shared and reseller packages are being offered.

Richard Kennedy, Managing Director of Aventure Host noted, ”By offering CDP as a value-add on most of our packages, we are bringing on new standards on how we operate. This will allow us to also provide our clients with peace of mind that their data is safe, and can be easily recovered in the event of a disaster.”

For dedicated servers, it offers 12 daily backups. Customers on Virtual Private Server (VPS) plans may purchase data protection from 1 pound ($2 US) which provides 1 daily backup.

As a member of R1HPP, Aventure Host gains access to valuable marketing materials, sales tools, and volume licensing discounts on software. R1Soft also provides its partners with priority technical support and advanced access to software updates.

David Wartell, Vice President of R1Soft, a division of BBS Technologies remarked, ”By joining forces with R1Soft and becoming a R1HPP partner, we will be able to more closely work with Aventure Host to help them maximize return on investment and successfully achieve their goal of the new hosting standardization.”

Aventure Host offers shared hosting packages starting from 32 pounds ($63 US) yearly. Dedicated servers start at 150 pounds ($295 US) monthly and Virtual Private Servers start at 5 pounds ($10 US) per month. All are hosted in the company’s Ireland datacenter.

Recently, R1 Soft released a new version of its CDP Server product that introduces a quick and easy Windows Server restore using Linux Live CDs. R1Soft’s new Bare-Metal Restore process does not require Windows Pre-Execution or Remote Installation Services and is a first of its kind. R1Soft provides its customers a bootable Linux Live CD ISO image compatible with most popular Windows Server storage and network devices. Administrators can initiate a restore by simply inserting the CD, powering on, and then selecting a point-in-time virtual full backup to restore from in the R1Soft CDP Server web interface.

Previously, before any data could be restored, Windows server administrators had to first re-install the Windows operating system and any backup software. Recent Bare-Metal Restore alternatives, such as products released by vendors like Symantec, IBM, and EMC, still require the customer to use either the Windows Pre-Execution Environment (Windows PE) or Windows Remote Installation Services (RIS) during restores. Windows RIS and PE can be complicated processes and these systems add hours of wasted time during a critical server restore.

R1Soft also supplies media and configurations for DHCP and TFTP servers to allow Windows Server restore over the PXE network boot protocol supported by all modern network interface cards. R1Soft has previously been offering Bare-Metal Restore in its CDP for Linux product.

A subsidiary of Aventure Media, Aventure Host is one of Ireland’s fastest growing internet solution providers, providing internet and media solutions to SME and corporate customers. To date, this equates to over 95,000 users in 132 countries. Aventure Media’s award winning internet solutions are based on a rock-solid datacenter infrastructure featuring n+1 redundancy and multi-homed bandwidth providers direct from Dublin, matched with an in-house state of the art Network Operations Centre in Belfast.

Founded in 2003, R1Soft is a provider of disk-based backup solutions. The company’s customer list includes some of the world’s largest hosting providers. R1soft products provide Continuous Data Protection (CDP) for over 85,000 mission-critical Linux and Windows servers worldwide. In November, 2007 R1Soft was acquired by BBS Technologies, Inc.
